2009 ND Solid Waste and Recycling Symposium

Sept. 15-17, Minot, North Dakota


The 2009 Symposium is complete.  A big "THANK YOU" to all those who participated in this  event.  We couldn't have done it without you!  If you were not able to make all of the sessions, some of the Power Point presentations will be available online.  Photos from the event will also be made available.  Be sure to mark your calendar for the 15th Annual Symposium September 14-16, 2009 in Aberdeen, South Dakota.  We will be joining the South Dakota Solid Waste Management Association for a first-time-ever joint conference...you won't want to miss out!  Stay tuned for details!

2009 Agenda
The conference will begin with a golf tournament, tour and picnic social on Tuesday, September 15th.  Presentations will begin at the Holiday Inn on Wednesday, September 16th and finish at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.  There will also be tours on Wednesday afternoon.   Check out the full conference agenda.  If you would like to see the full conference newsletter including the agenda, vendors that will be there, the registration form, scholarship form and membership application (16 pages), click here (PDF).   

Attendees
The attendee rates are $140 for members and $200 for non-members.  To see if you are a member, check our our member list (or see the back of the registration form).  The registration form (PDF) is now available.  The registration deadline is August 14.  Call Angela at (701) 650-8857 for more information or if you are registering after this date.    

Exhibitors
Interested in showcasing your products or services to attendees?  Exhibitor space fills up fast.  The $375 rate includes attendance (seminars, meals, tours) for up to three people, booth space, and a membership for one yearIf you cannot make it, and are interested in getting your information out to all attendees, you can "Stuff your Stuff" for $100.  You can also get your name and services out to our attendees through being a sponsor for the conference.  There are several sponsorship levels available (see the exhibitor letter).  View/print out the exhibitor letter (with hotel, set-up information and sponsorship details) and registration formNon-Profit Organizations:  Please call Angela at (701) 650-8857 for details.  

Hotel Information
A block of rooms are reserved at the Holiday Inn Riverside in Minot.  To reserve your room, call (701) 852-2504.  The hotel is located at 2200 Burdick Expressway East, Minot, ND 58701. Please be sure to ask for the "ND Solid Waste and Recycling Conference" block of rooms to get the discount rate.  The discount rate will be available until September 1st.  

Golf - Tuesday, September 15:
Join us for the Annual Golf Tournament at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Souris Valley Golf Course in Minot.  Registration for golf is listed on all registration forms and includes the green fees and a cart for $45.  See a map here and directions here.  New this year: a picnic social (supper) and registration will take place at the golf course from 5 - 8 p.m.

Tour - Tuesday, September 15:
We will be touring
Crude Oil and Natural Gas Exploration and Production in the Williston Basin on Tuesday afternoon.  A bus will depart from the Holiday Inn at 1 p.m. and return by 6 p.m.  Join us for our picnic following the tour (see details below).  Be sure to mark the registration form if you plan to attend!

Social, Picnic and Registration - Tuesday, September 15:
Join us for food, fun, refreshments and recreation at the Souris Valley Golf Course on the west side of Minot.  You can also pick up your registration folder during this time.  Be sure to mark the registration form if you plan to attend this event.  See a map here and directions here.

Tours - Wednesday, September 16:
We will be touring Gerdau Ameristeel's Scrap Metal Facility, the City of Minot Landfill and the Tire Recycling (Pyrolosis) Plant near Berthold on Wednesday afternoon.  Be sure to mark the registration form if you plan to attend!  

Leadership Award:
Is there someone in your organization or a business, non-profit or city that you believe has done an outstanding job in their dedication to the solid waste and recycling profession?  If so, contact Angela or another board member to nominate them for our annual Leadership Award that is given at our annual conference.  The person, business, etc. must be a member of the NDSWRA.

Scholarship Award:
Don't forget to apply (or have your children apply) for our annual scholarship awards.  See the application and details on our scholarship page.

Greener ND Award:
Don't forget to nominate a person, business or organization for our annual Greener ND Award.  See the application and details on our award page.
