Municipal Landfill Operator Training Course
The ND Department of Health provides an annual training course for
MSW landfill operators, typically held in the spring.  For more details, see the Health Department's Web site at www.ndhealth.gov/wm.

Landfill Methane Outreach Program
Although there are limited applications within the state at this time, the ND Department of Health, Division of Waste Management, hopes to answer questions and offer information to those facilities which are interested in the Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP).  LMOP is a clearing house for data and other useful information.  This information is to remind solid waste facilities that the North Dakota Department of Health allows active landfill gas collection as long as those activities are consistent with the State Air Quality and Solid Waste Management Rules.  For more information, or to explore options related to LMOP for your facility, contact the ND Department of Health at (701) 328-5166 or visit these links:

Construction & Demolition Recycling and Backyard Burning Workshops
The Association hosted several workshops in 2007 about the recycling and reuse opportunities for concrete, wood, scrap metal and more.  The dual focus also included the environmental and health effects of the backyard burning of household garbage (Backyard Burning).  Other topics included green building, C&D recovery, abandoned buildings, composting, consumer recycling and more.  These workshops were free and provided through an EPA Environmental Education Grant.

Scrap Metal/Appliance Workshops
These took place in 2005.  The following Web pages are a result of a grant through which the workshops were conducted.

Project Safe Send
Each summer, the Department of Agriculture offers a used pesticide collection in communities across the state.  "This is a good time for anyone with pesticides – farmers, ranchers, chemical dealers and applicators, government agencies and homeowners – to take stock of their inventory and set aside unusable pesticides for disposal,” said Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson. “With 16 collection sites, no one will have to drive far to get rid of their waste pesticides, safely, efficiently and at no charge.”  Call (701) 328-4997 for more information on this program.
